From Vigia do Canto, following a path shaded by trees, we arrive at Vigia do Antero.
Antero Simas Soares, a former whaler, dedicates his time today sighting whales from his lookout, in Serra de São Mateus. From here, his gaze can reach up to 40 km, with the aid of a pair of binoculars. Once he sights a whale, he communicates its location through a radio to the whale watching boats.
