With almost six centuries of continuous human presence, the Azores are both made of land and sea.

Practically in the middle of the Atlantic, this particular geographic reality and the natural characteristics that define it, have shaped the identity of the Azores and determined its history.

From the very beginning, shaped by the all-encompassing natural environment that surrounds them, the people of the Azores have developed economic activities and cultural practices, creating a heritage that is intrinsically linked to this unique connection to the earth, whether of a more solid or more fluid nature: the activities of the Azoreans are a continuation of the demands and possibilities presented by nature, in a singular and harmonious symbiosis.

After all, the nature of the Azores is also its people.
